What Is Cybersecurity

What is Cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity is the art of securing computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access and malicious attacks. It is a practice that ensures confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Today, due to covid the world relies on technology more than ever before. Thus, digital data creation has surged. Systems that handle this digital data may have vulnerabilities that, when exploited, can harm the individual or an organization to whom that data belongs.

Cyber threats are evolving at a rapid pace globally. An increase in cyberattacks such as data breaches, identity theft, malware, ransomware, phishing is an issue of major concern. More awareness campaigns should be done to educate people about these attacks and how to protect ourselves from such attacks.

Elements of Cyber Security:-

Cyber Security comprises different domains and different levels. Each domain and level deals with a specific element of cybersecurity. Let us now study some of the main elements of cybersecurity.

  • Data Security: A large amount of data is generated by internet users. Securing company and customer data is a different level of security.
  • Network security: The process of securing the network from unauthenticated users, attacks and intrusions.
  • Cloud security:  Cloud provide us with a virtual platform to store our data which we can access anytime from anywhere. Securing data in this virtual environment is a part of cloud security.
  • Application security: Applications require constant updates and testing to ensure these applications get secured from malicious attackers.
  • Mobile security: Mobile phones and tablets include virtually every type of security challenge in and for themselves.
  • Endpoint security: Remote access is a necessary part of an organization, but can also be a weak point from a security perspective. Endpoint Security is the process of securing remote access to a company’s network.
