After hearing about the massive data breach with almost 86 Crores plus Indian citizen data going live on sale over the dark web, many security researchers started pentesting government websites for so many reasons.
In the same context, a famous security analyst Viral Vaghela has tested some government websites and came up favorable with an endpoint providing backdoor access to malicious threat actors to hijack sensitive information of Indian COVID patients, including Aadhar numbers, PAN numbers, passport details, and more.
Further, Vagehla reported the security issue to NCIIPC (National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre) and received acknowledgment in return through an email thanking him for his genuine contribution towards saving the country’s database from malicious entities.
However, Viral Veghela didn’t confirm the intensity of the data leaked from this source, but he truly stated that this particular endpoint has all the sensitive information access available to the malicious entities.
