A Female Senior Citizen Duped 94,000/- ₹ Due To A Fake Courier Fraud.
It’s interesting to note that the woman had not disclosed either her bank account information or an OTP.
When a 59-year-old Mira Road resident went to inquire about the whereabouts of a package she had been anticipating from a delivery service, she was the latest victim of cyber fraudsters who stole more than ₹93,000 from her bank account.
It’s interesting to note that the woman had not disclosed either her bank account information or an OTP.
The person making the complaint said that she obtained a link for tracking purposes to verify the condition of delivery in her declaration to the Naya Nagar police. Soon after providing her courier ID and hitting the link, she got a call from an unidentified individual asking her to send 2 to a specific digital wallet in order to obtain the delivery person’s contact information. In addition, she received a text message with the delivery person’s telephone number after making a ₹2 payment.
To Your Amaze, The Woman Had Kept Her Bank Information and OTP Highly Confidential.
When contacted, the individual stated that he would be delivering the package at 4:00 PM. The woman was astonished to see that ₹94,996 had been taken from her bank account through four fraudulent transactions, even though the delivery person never showed up.
The woman filed a complaint at the Naya Nagar police station on Mira Road after realizing she had been duped. Unidentified cybercriminals have been charged with a crime under the suitable sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act of 2000. In addition, there were more inquiries being conducted.
