Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Launched Aadhar App To Mitigate Forging Aadhar Cards

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the Aadhar App during the 3rd Aadhar Samwad Conference held in Delhi to minimize Aadhar Card forgery happening throughout the country on a mass scale.

Recently, Union Minister of IT Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the Aadhar App during the Aadhar Samwad Conference in order to curb the ongoing Aadhar Card forgery happening on a mass scale.  The newly launched Aadhar app is highly intuitive under the DPDP Act or Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 to deliver all quality parameters for the safe and secure usage.

A day-long stakeholders’ conference with ecosystem partners, including states and central government ministries, was ended by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to discuss and exchange ideas on how to improve service delivery through the use of Aadhaar.

According to a Ministry of Electronics and IT announcement, almost 750 senior policymakers, experts, technocrats, sectoral leaders, and professionals gathered in New Delhi on Tuesday for the “Aadhaar Samvaad.”

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized in his inauguration speech how artificial intelligence is similar to a new industrial revolution. According to him, Aadhaar is the foundation of DPIs and the “aadhaar” of other initiatives. He requested feedback from the stakeholders on how to combine AI and DPIs to further accelerate growth. He noted that all of this was done while maintaining privacy.

According to a Union Minister, the Central Government’s top priority is to make life easier for everyone. According to the release, he provided an example of how Aadhaar face authentication is an enabler in this context.

Speaking to the interested parties,  Aadhaar is facilitating faster inclusion and supporting economic progress, according to S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).  According to him, Aadhaar is an advanced technology that protects privacy and verifies identity.

Speaking at the meeting, Saurabh Garg, the Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), emphasized the quick rise in Aadhaar authentications and thanked UIDAI for facilitating the increase of Aadhaar usage.  Garg mentioned the need of data for development.

UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra discussed Aadhaar’s contribution to DPI growth.  He stated that while UIDAI and Aadhaar have made significant progress, much more remains to be done.  According to him, face authentication is becoming increasingly reliable and useful, the announcement also stated.

According to UIDAI CEO Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Aadhaar Face authentication is quickly taking the lead in authentication.  He said that UIDAI is ready for the future, whether it be in terms of service delivery or technological adoption, and that the Aadhaar ecosystem has expanded significantly.  Aadhaar’s humanitarian aspects, such as its ability to reunite hundreds of missing children with their families, were also highlighted by him.

The app will provide certain prominent features as objectives suggested to the stakeholders in the interest of the common citizens of India, such as the following:

  1. The app will become the base for offering maximum online authentication of legitimate users as citizens within India.
  2. It will become a crucial part of AI usage in Aadhaar’s work to minimize Aadhaar card-based forgery. In the context of the UID card and the broader Indian digital public infrastructure (DPI) ecosystem, the embedding of AI is highly crucial and will be installed.
  3. The making of app features as per the DPDP Act 2023 is highly recommended by IT Minister Vaishnaw.

The above-mentioned best practices are recommended by Mr. Vaishnaw in order to make the application more useful and user-friendly.

The third installment of the Aadhaar Samvaad series is this one.  The second edition of UIDAI, held in Mumbai in January 2025, concentrated on the FinTech sector, bringing together the BFSI, fintech, and telecom sectors. The first edition took place in Bengaluru in November 2024 and focused on industries and technology involved in the digital identity area.  The major theme for this edition in Delhi was Innovation, Inclusion, and Integration. The release also discussed how Aadhaar may assist in enhancing governance and benefit people more.

Focused talks on topics and themes such as the adoption of new technologies and processes in Aadhaar enrolment and authentication, expanding Aadhaar usage for good governance, strengthening Aadhaar enrolment and updating the ecosystem, and data protection were held following the first session.

Demos of certain new products, such as the Sandbox and a forthcoming mobile app that would give users more discretion over how much information they divulge when using services, were also displayed by UIDAI.

The new Aadhaar app, which will enable Aadhaar number holders to give only the information required to access the services of their choice, was unveiled at UIDAI’s technological center.  Holders of Aadhaar numbers will have total control over their personal data thanks to it.  By removing the need for physical photocopies and guaranteeing anonymity, the app enables digital verification and exchange through a requesting application or by scanning a QR code.

The integration of Aadhaar Face Authentication, which is rapidly being adopted across industries and has recorded over 15 crore transactions monthly, is a significant breakthrough in the app, according to the announcement.

For a limited number of people, including all registered attendees of this Aadhaar Samvaad event, this app is being released as an early adopter. UIDAI will soon make it available to everyone based on input from ecosystem partners and users.

The announcement further stated that UIDAI is optimistic that the event’s outcome would yield practical insights that will improve Aadhaar usage and authentication services and set the groundwork for adoption in new use cases that will further benefit people.
