Prime Minister’s Twitter Account Hacked
Prime Minister’s Twitter Account Hacked
Prime Minister’s Twitter account was briefly hacked earlier today. After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s account was briefly compromised it was almost instantly restored. But a tweet promoting cryptocurrency has been shared by the hacker.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team is on the job and trying to identify the source of the account hacked. They are also trying to find out where are the vulnerabilities.
Is it at the end of the government itself or the team that’s handling the account and whether they need to secure the account in a better fashion or are the vulnerabilities at the twitter end? So to get to that stage they are of course trying to identify the source of the hack at the moment.
CERT-In which is the “Indian Computer Emergency Response Team” is currently on the job trying to identify the source of the hack. The latest technologies are being used to identify the hacker. They secure the account in a better fashion earlier this morning.
The Twitter handle which is @narendramodi was compromised briefly and a tweet was sent out from that account promoting a cryptocurrency and saying that the government had accepted bitcoins as legal tender. Twitter was immediately contacted by Prime Minister’s office, the account was secured and then restored.
The tweet was put out @PMOIndia handle saying that “The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured. In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored”.
