Major Crackdown in Rajasthan Police’s Operation Anti-Virus Results in Arrests of Cyber Criminals
Kherli: The Kherli Police Station and the Cyber Cell Team are responsible for a substantial action that was taken against those who commit fraud online. An arrest warrant has been issued for seven cybercriminals. A total of five motorcycles, four ATM cards, and eighteen mobile phones have been discovered and confiscated. In order to combat cybercrime and other offenses that are related to it, the team is now conducting a unique operation.
As part of a bigger campaign that was directed by the renowned Inspector General of Police Range Bharatpur, Mr. Rahul Prakash, and the Superintendent of Police, Deeg, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, this intensive operation was carried out. The objective of the campaign is to fight against cybercrimes and other unlawful actions that are related to them.
Operational Details
On August 24, 2024, a police team operating out of the Goth police station was sent to the Bhadesar neighborhood in order to combat the growing number of cybercrime activities that were taking place there. Over the course of the operation, mobile signals pointed to the presence of a potentially malicious device that was associated with the mobile number 7357100862, which had been reported under the complaint number 1930.
In response to this intelligence, the Rajasthan Special Team carried out a raid close to a village, where they discovered five motorcycles parked outside of an isolated cottage. Seven individuals were taken into custody by the police, each of whom was involved in a different type of fraudulent activity.
The accused first refused to provide their identities when they were questioned; however, they eventually disclosed their names as Laxman (alias Lucky, aged 30, resident of Chusalki), Anil (alias Kalu, aged 19, residence of Chusalki), Vikram (alias Monu, aged 21, resident of Chusalki), and a few more.
During this operation, the police were able to seize a total of five motorcycles, four ATM cards, and eighteen unlawful mobile phones. Each of the seven suspects was taken into custody in accordance with a variety of sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as other applicable legislation. Additional investigations are still being conducted, particularly with reference to their connections with well-known cybercriminals.
Modus Operandi
The persons who were arrested were involved in phishing scams that entailed the use of fake mobile phone numbers and ATM cards. It was through online scams that they enticed victims, promising them great advantages, and then deceiving them into sending money without their knowledge.
The suspects utilized the stolen money to make purchases of products and services online, which they then resold at reduced prices after using the stolen money. During this operation, the police squad that was participating included a number of policemen who came from several police stations located throughout the district.
