Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp Globally Down for Worldwide Users, Hear What Parent Company Meta Says on This
Platforms owned by Meta, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. Millions of customers were impacted by a worldwide outage that occurred late Sunday, particularly in the US and India. Users complained about everything from poor loading speeds and comments to total inaccessibility. Although some services seem to be getting better, Meta has not disclosed the reason or the anticipated period of recovery.
There is a worldwide outage affecting users in multiple areas, including India, on Meta’s social media platforms, which include Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Shortly before 11 PM IST, reports of service outages began to mount on Downdetector.com, with users all across the world experiencing problems gaining access to these popular platforms.
Users seem to be affected by the outage in different ways; some are having trouble submitting material, while others are encountering problems, delayed loading times, and complete inability to use the platforms. There may be a problem with Facebook’s commenting system because some users have reportedly reported viewing all posts with no comments.
Facebook and Instagram — Most Hit Meta Platforms
In the United States, users reported over 97,000 issues with the app and website. With over 72,000 reports, Instagram appears to be the most affected site in the US. In India, roughly 31,000 users have reported having trouble accessing the platform.
Approximately 30,500 reports of WhatsApp being unavailable during a peak outage were received in India. Approximately 12,000 users in the US reported issues using the site on their phones.
Regarding the reason for the outage and when it is anticipated to be fixed, Meta has not yet issued an official comment. Nearly an hour after the first complaints, there are signs that some services are gradually beginning to return online for specific customers.
Additionally, many went to X (previously Twitter) to post and exchange memes related to the outage.
The Second Major Outage in 2024
Instagram and Facebook, which are controlled by Meta, went down in March of this year. A malfunction caused issues for Facebook and Instagram users worldwide. On X, formerly Twitter, a number of users shared screenshots of their issues with these two social media sites.
Global Outage Got Fixed Within Some Hours
Meta fixed the global outage of social media giant products — Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, within a few hours. Users can now genuinely use the services of these social media applications hassle-free. However, the reason behind the outage is still unknown and is said to be some coding error on the platforms rather than a possible cyber attack on the same.
