Apple patches Siri flaws that could have enabled the sensitive data theft from a locked device. Update your Apple Devices immediately!
To address numerous vulnerabilities that could potentially enable an attacker to pilfer confidential data from a locked device, Apple has issued security updates for numerous products.
Four vulnerabilities in Siri have been addressed in the patches for Apple Watch, iOS, and iPadOS. Your digital assistant is capable of processing a variety of voice commands while your device is secured.
In order to prevent an intruder with physical access from accessing contacts from the lock screen and accessing other sensitive user data, Apple has restricted these options. The digital assistant should be restricted to duties that do not necessitate access to sensitive data that is locked behind the device’s security systems, such as Face ID or a passcode, in order to safeguard your privacy and security when using Siri on a locked device.
The VoiceOver component in Apple Watch, iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Ventura was also patched to address a comparable vulnerability. To determine whether VoiceOver is enabled or disabled on your iPhone or iPad, navigate to Settings > Accessibility >VoiceOver.
To verify that you are operating on the most recent version of iOS and iPadOS, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. If you are not currently on iOS 17.6 or iPadOS 17.6, it is recommended that you update immediately. Additionally, it is advantageous to activate Automatic Updates, provided that you have not already done so. This can be accomplished on the same screen.
