Jaipur, Rajasthan: The Crime Branch has arrested a cybercriminal who hacked the Jaipur Police website. The arrested accused is only 10th passed. He used to hack the website of Jaipur Police tosend multiple emails to the banks in the name of Jaipur Police and get the disputed bank accounts of the people frozen.
He used to get CDR issued by sending emails to telecom companies in the name of police. He used to take huge amounts of money by giving this CDR to spy companies.
Modus Operandi of Cyber Fraud
On March 6, 24, a complaint was received with the Cyber Crime Cell of Rajasthan that the account of ICICI Bank had been frozen by sending a mail from the official website of Rajasthan Police. Investigation revealed that this email ID contained a lot of junk mail, spam mail, and deleted emails.
Several such emails were found in which an unknown person accessed the said e-mail ID in an unauthorized manner and took personal information about the holders of the bank accounts such as mobile numbers, transaction details of bank accounts, and their IP logs.
After this, e-mails were sent to various banks in the name of Rajasthan Police to freeze the bank accounts. He sent emails and got CDRs of people’s mobiles extracted for spy companies. The investigation also revealed that the accused purchased a special software for CDR. He had also got the CDR of a person removed 15 days ago.
Additionally, he used unauthorized access to the website to obtain CDR analysis software, information about personnel working in banks, and other sensitive information. It was found that the email ID belonged to Rajasthan Police Crime Branch.
The Accused Removed CDRs of Film Actors
Police interrogation revealed that the arrested cyber criminal is very clever and has been arrested earlier in Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad in the case of illegally extracting CDRs of film actors, politicians, etc. Accused SaurabhSahu, resident of Ghaziabad, UP, 10th class. The accused colluded with some spy agencies who allegedly helped him in hacking websites and freezing bank accounts to obtain call data records and other personal information. In return for this, he used to charge ₹15,000/- to ₹20,000/- from the customers.
