Indian hackers are conducting “Op Canada,” targeting the website of the Canadian armed forces.
A group of Indian hackers has claimed to have started a campaign named #OpCanada against Canadian cyber assets, including the nation’s military website, against the backdrop of rising diplomatic tensions.
As part of the hack planned by the “Indian Cyber Force,” the website of the Canadian Armed Forces was briefly brought offline for two hours on September 27. The organization claimed that the Canadian IOT devices would be the next target.
Due to geopolitical tensions, the Indian Cyber Force, a group of hackers that has gained notoriety recently, announced their operations on Telegram and X (previously Twitter), posting screenshots of the Canadian military website during the attack.
Prior to the breach, the organization had specified a timeline, which they successfully met.
“Canada is on cyber alert. Prepare to feel the force of Indian Cyber Force strikes as they will be launched on Canadian cyberspace in the next three days in retaliation for the trouble you caused. #OpCanada Regards, IndianCyberForce,” the group of hackers posted on X on September 21.
Since then, the group has asserted that it gained access to a Canadian citizen’s personal database through hacking, including
- Details of Credit Cards,
- Driver’s Licenses,
- Loan History,
- Bank Statements,
- Emails,
- Phone Numbers,
- Addresses, and
- Canadian passports, etc.
The Canadian manufacturing database, the website of the Canadian hospital in Ottawa, the Canadian electoral democracy site, and the Canadian armed services website were all purported targets of hacking by the Indian Cyber Force in the days that followed.

The suspicions that Indian government agents were involved in the murder of Canadian citizen and Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia led to the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, announcing an investigation.
India has categorically denied being involved in the incident and has called the accusations into question.

India announced the temporary suspension of Canadian visa issuance in reaction to rising diplomatic tensions, and Ottawa was asked to scale up its diplomatic representation there.
India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, urged all UN members to respond to terrorism, extremism, and violence based on values rather than political expediency during his speech at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
He emphasized the significance of maintaining the integrity of other countries’ territories and refraining from meddling in their internal issues, underlining that these principles shouldn’t be open to a narrow interpretation.
